On Thursday 20th August, colleagues from across Probo Medical came together at our Gloucester offices for a fundraising BBQ in aid of Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity, our chosen charity of the year. The afternoon raised more than £360 for the Bristol Heart Institute.

Organised by our internal charity committee, the day brought together office-based and remote colleagues from departments right across the business, including plenty of people who don't often get to spend time in the same room. Everyone who came along enjoyed a burger for lunch, provided by local food truck The BBQ Society, who looked after us brilliantly.

A table tennis and pool competition ran through the afternoon alongside a bake sale, but the biggest event was the giant dunk tank set up outside the offices. Every member of our European leadership team volunteered to take a turn in the seat, and we sold raffle tickets for the chance to dunk them. It might well be the most raffle tickets we've ever sold.

Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity is the official charity Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, supporting 13 hospitals across Bristol and Weston. It funds work that goes beyond core NHS budgets, from widening access to healthcare to improving hospital facilities and backing clinical innovation.

Money raised at the BBQ goes to the Bristol Heart Institute, a specialist cardiac centre in Bristol. The charity was a natural fit for us. We supply and service diagnostic imaging equipment, including the ultrasound and cardiology systems used in cardiac departments, and our work is about making affordable, reliable imaging accessible to the teams who need it, extending the working life of systems and helping departments stretch limited capital further. The charity's work follows a similar principle: making sure clinical teams have the equipment, facilities and support that allow them to deliver the care they want to give.

The BBQ is one of several activities planned across the year as part of the partnership, and there will be more fundraising events to come. Thank you to Leon, our charity committee and everyone who took part, donated or worked hard behind the scenes to make the day happen.
